Forests and wood are Latvia’s most important natural resource and a completely irreplaceable resource for the operation of Kurekss Ltd. We pay great attention to the sustainable management of this natural resource so that our economic activities have a positive impact on the environment.

The goal of Kurekss Ltd. in the field of environmental (forest) protection is to preserve and maintain biological diversity, balancing the interests of society, the economy and the environment.

In order to ensure the sustainable use of forests, we strictly observe the Latvian Forest Law and European Parliament and Council Regulation No. 995/2010 (EUTR), and we have obtained wood supply chain certification in accordance with the international FSC (FSC-C006364) standard FSC-STD-40-004 and PEFC ST 2002:2013, stipulating that wood is not harvested:

In taking care of the work environment, the company has established an occupational safety and health system. Improvement of the labour protection system takes place continuously by developing new regulatory enactments, supplementing existing ones, and performing supervision and control at workplaces.

Sustainable management of natural resources

 ISO 14001:2015 certificate

The environmental management system standard confirms that the company cares about the impact on the environment, using resources more efficiently and striving to reduce waste.

 ISO 50001:2018 certificate

Kurekss Ltd. has implemented an energy management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 50001 to monitor energy efficiency indicators.

 PEFC ST 2002:2013 Chain of Custody (CoC) certification

In order to demonstrate the importance of sustainable forest use and provide customers with confirmation of compliance with sustainable practices, Kurekss Ltd. obtained PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) chain of custody certification in accordance with the PEFC ST 2002:2013 standard.

In taking care of the sustainability of forests and responding to customers’ wishes to see confirmation of sustainability in how purchased products are procured, Kurekss Ltd. obtained FSC chain of custody certification.
